Every generation call goes from your machine to the provider, on your key, at their price. Brut never sits in the call path, never marks up a token, never holds a key that bills anyone but you. Keys live in your OS keychain. Graphs and outputs live on your disk (or your NAS). We can't see your renders. Neither can anyone else.

Prompt, refine, generate, compose, inpaint, review — one graph. Nodes are shots and decisions, not samplers and latents. Wires carry images, prompts and plans; every node shows its result inline.
Multi-Shot: one scene, twelve opinions.
A planner writes N distinct shot prompts from your base images, then fills a contact sheet in parallel. Re-roll one tile for cents. Curate with ✓/✗ — only approved shots flow downstream.
The cache is a feature with a euro sign.
Every node hashes its inputs. Unchanged inputs = cached output = nothing billed. A revision round touches three shots? You pay for three shots. The ledger shows every cent and who received it.

Video is where budgets die. Brut quotes every clip — model, duration, resolution, estimated cost — and generates nothing until you confirm the total. Cancel a line, the total updates.
Inpaint, compose, conform — finish without round-trips.
Paint a mask, type what changes, only that region changes — with the rest pixel-faithful. Compose scenes from references. Conform aspect ratios locally for free.

First-class projects with their own outputs, graphs and spend ledger — on your disk or your NAS, adoptable by a second seat. Export a whole project as one .brutpack file, warm caches included. Reusable composites and templates travel in a global library.

Scenarist, Artistic Director, DoP and Script Supervisor plan the film from your renders. You edit the plan, approve the quote, and Brut shoots, assembles and cuts it locally with ffmpeg — for exactly the bill it showed you.

Where do my API keys live?+
In your OS keychain, on your machine. They are never logged, never sent to us, never written into a graph file. We couldn't leak them; we don't have them.
So what will I eventually pay for?+
The tool: the canvas, the caching that never re-bills unchanged work, the ledgers, the catalog kept current as providers churn. Never for tokens.
Is this a ComfyUI alternative?+
Different altitude. ComfyUI orchestrates model internals; Brut orchestrates creative decisions and the money attached. Their nodes are samplers; ours are shots.
What do I need to run it?+
Windows (macOS later), Python bootstraps itself via the launcher, and your own provider keys with billing enabled. Note: most providers' free tiers have zero image quota — a first-call 429 means billing isn't enabled, not that you're rate-limited.

Good, ours too. Local-first means renders never leave your machine; there is no cloud to leak from. That's a compliance feature, not a slogan.
What happens if I stop paying (after launch)?+
After 12 paid months you keep a perpetual license to your version, forever. A lapsed Brut keeps working; paying resumes updates. Nobody can turn your tool off remotely — that would betray the whole thesis.
