Gemini Omni
Google's Gemini Omni Flash is a fast natively-multimodal video model: picture and sound generated together, a clip in under a minute, about $1 per clip.
The key: it rides your Gemini key
Like Veo, Omni uses the same Google key as Gemini by default. If you've added a Gemini key, Omni just works; Settings shows it uses your Gemini key. Add a dedicated key in ⚙ Settings → Gemini Omni only to split the billing.
What it does in Brut
- Image-to-video from a start frame, optionally with an end frame (the two-image interpolation), and text-to-video.
- 3 to 10 seconds, 16:9 or 9:16, output at 360p, 720p, 1080p or 4k. Note that 1080p and 4k are upscales of the 720p render, not a sharper generation; if you plan a Topaz pass anyway, generate at 720p.
- Reference images on the references inlet: extra images of a subject (a product, a character, a facade) the clip should stay faithful to. Name them in the prompt.
- Audio is always on. There is no switch; describe the sound you want, or say "no dialogue, no music, natural ambience only". Every clip carries Google's invisible SynthID watermark.
- Omni has no negative prompt of its own: what you type in the node's negative prompt still reaches the model, as part of the prompt.
The Gemini Omni video prompt preset in Refine writes the flowing-prose prompt style Omni reads best.
Pricing: flat per clip, so ask for 10 seconds
Google's page says "about $0.10 per second at 720p", but Google bills every clip the same, about $1.01, whatever its length or resolution (360p and 720p measured; 1080p and 4K show $?). The practical rule: ask for 10 seconds (the node defaults to it) and trim in the Sequence node if you want less. Your spend panel shows the amount Google billed; if Google's billing page shows you something different, tell us.
Google keeps the interaction (your prompt, inputs and the clip) on its side for a while after it completes; that is what lets Omni edit its own earlier clips. Brut doesn't use that yet: editing and extending clips arrive with the Video → Video node later, together with the region note that matters for European users (Google doesn't allow editing or extending uploaded videos from the EEA, Switzerland or the UK; editing clips Omni generated itself is allowed).
