Replicate
Replicate is the third aggregator route in Brut — a plain API-token, pay-per-use service that resells official builds of many models. Like every route, it never adds a model to the menu: it serves models Brut already carries when you hold no native key (and no earlier route credential — fal.ai and Higgsfield are checked first), always visibly marked ⇄ runs via Replicate on the node.
Current mirror set: Nano Banana Pro & 2 (text→image and image→image), GPT Image 2 (text→image and image→image), Kling 3.0 Omni, Veo 3.1 & 3.1 Fast (image→video and text→video), Seedance 2.0 (image→video and text→video).
Get a token
Create a token at replicate.com/account/api-tokens
(r8_…) and paste it into ⚙ Settings → Replicate (or set REPLICATE_API_TOKEN). Billing must
be enabled on the Replicate account before the first run — errors come back verbatim, as
always.
The route rules, as everywhere
- Your direct key always wins, and fal.ai / Higgsfield credentials outrank Replicate when present (catalog order). Replicate is the redundancy door.
- Routing is always visible — node chip, run confirm, spend ledger.
- No invented prices: image routes carry Replicate's own billing-table rates (Nano Banana 2 $0.067 · Pro $0.15/$0.30 at 4K · GPT Image 2 $0.012/$0.047/$0.128 by quality); video rates aren't pinned yet, so those runs show no estimate rather than a wrong one. The ledger records every run.
What this route can do that fal's can't
- Veo end frames work (
last_frameis a real input on Replicate's Veo 3.1). - Seedance text→video is available.
- GPT Image 2 sizes ride Replicate's aspect menu — ratios plus explicit sizes like 2048x1152 up to 3840x2160; the node's Aspect select shows exactly that menu (the entries above 2560x1440 are marked experimental by the schema).
- Reference images ride on Veo 3.1, Seedance 2.0, and Kling 3.0 Omni.
And its own limits (all fail loud, never silent)
- Seedance tops out at 720p on Replicate — 1080p/4K need your BytePlus key. Smart Length isn't available either.
- Nano Banana 2 has no size knob — 1K only; pick Nano Banana Pro for 2K/4K.
- Kling 4K master tier doesn't exist on Replicate (std/pro only), and the Kling route is the Omni model.
- Inpaint masks route approximately on the Nano Banana models (the Gemini convention: the painted region is strong guidance, not a hard guarantee). GPT Image 2 masks don't route — exact masking needs your OpenAI key. Audio always follows your node toggle, never Replicate's default.
Large input images (multi-MB keyframes) are uploaded through Replicate's Files API automatically; outputs are downloaded to your project's disk immediately — restart-safe, journaled, in the ledger.
